A home wall charger needs a parking space on your own property. If your car is parked on the street, we will say so at the first conversation rather than fit something that leaves a cable across the pavement. Many Bath terraces do have rear lanes, garages or courtyards, so it is worth a quick look before ruling it out.
A wall-mounted charger within the curtilage of a listed building is not permitted development, so it needs consent. In a conservation area permitted development rights can be removed by an Article 4 direction. Not always. If your board is in good condition, has a spare way and can take a Type A RCBO, the charger circuit goes into it. Older fuse boxes and plastic units are usually replaced at the same visit, which turns a half-day job into a full day.
A standard installation takes three to four hours. A long cable run, a trench to a garage or a board change can make it a full day.
